The PADI MSDT Prep Program in Cozumel is designed for IDC candidates, new PADI Instructors, and current PADI Instructors who want to continue their professional development after the Instructor Development Course. This program helps candidates earn Specialty Instructor ratings, improve teaching confidence, and begin building toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.

MSDT Prep is not the MSDT rating itself. To apply for the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating, instructors must meet PADI requirements, including the required Specialty Instructor ratings and the required number of PADI diver certifications.

This program is a strong next step for IDC candidates who want the most complete professional training package, new instructors who recently completed the IDC, and current instructors who want to expand what they can teach and become more versatile, confident, and employable dive professionals.

What Is MSDT Prep?

MSDT Prep is professional-level Specialty Instructor training designed to help PADI Instructors build toward the Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.

During the program, you will work with a PADI Course Director or qualified instructor trainer to review specialty course standards, teaching requirements, course organization, risk management considerations, student control, open-water training requirements, and practical teaching techniques for each selected specialty.

The goal is not only to help you earn Specialty Instructor ratings, but also to help you understand how to teach specialty courses well.

MSDT Prep with Your IDC

5-Day Program

The 5-day MSDT Prep Program may be added to any IDC package. It is already included with the PADI Pro Platinum IDC, and candidates enrolled in other IDC packages may elect to add MSDT Prep at any time during their IDC.

This option is designed for IDC candidates who want to add Specialty Instructor training, expand their teaching opportunities, and begin building toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating as part of a stronger professional training pathway.

This program includes:

• Course-specific teaching preparation

• Open-water training considerations

Standalone MSDT Prep Program

Schedule by Request

The standalone MSDT Prep Program is available for renewed PADI Instructors who have already completed the IDC and want to add Specialty Instructor ratings, improve teaching confidence, and continue their professional development in Cozumel.

This option is a good choice for current instructors who want to expand what they can teach, become more employable, and build toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.

Standalone scheduling may vary depending on selected specialties, candidate goals, instructor availability, and dive conditions.

IDC Candidate Note

IDC candidates may begin selected MSDT Prep training in conjunction with their IDC. MSDT Prep is included with the PADI Pro Platinum IDC and may be added to any other IDC package. Specialty Instructor ratings and applications are completed in accordance with PADI standards once all required prerequisites are met.

Prerequisites

• Enrollment in a PADI IDC, or renewed PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

• PADI Instructor status in good standing, where applicable

• Required dives or experience for selected Specialty Instructor ratings, where applicable

• Medical clearance signed and dated by a medical professional within 12 months of the course start date is required for any in-water training.

• Ability to meet all PADI standards and prerequisites for selected Specialty Instructor ratings
