A guided night shore dive is a great way to experience Cozumel from a different perspective. Instead of the bright colors and movement of the daytime reef, night diving focuses your attention on smaller details, nocturnal animals, and marine life behavior that many divers never see during the day.
Your dive begins with a briefing covering night diving procedures, light use, underwater communication, entry and exit procedures, and what to expect underwater. Once conditions are suitable, your guide leads the dive at a comfortable pace with time to look closely at the reef and search for nocturnal marine life.
The $65.00 guided night shore dive is for certified divers only. This price does not include the PADI Night Diver Specialty course, which is available separately by request.
PADI Night Diver Specialty in Cozumel
The PADI Night Diver Specialty is designed to help certified divers become more comfortable and confident diving after dark. During the course, you will learn how to plan night dives, use dive lights properly, communicate underwater at night, navigate in low-light conditions, and manage common night diving procedures.
Training is conducted privately or in a small group, allowing the course to move at a comfortable pace. This is a good specialty for divers who want to expand their skills, gain more confidence, and experience Cozumel’s reefs in a completely different way.
PADI Night Diver Specialty training is available by request and is priced separately from the $65.00 guided night shore dive.
What You May See on a Cozumel Night Dive
Marine life changes after sunset. While every dive is different, night dives in Cozumel may include:
- Octopus
- Lobsters
- Eels
- Crabs and shrimp
- Sleeping parrotfish
- Rays
- Reef fish tucked into the coral
- Nocturnal reef activity not commonly seen during the day
Sightings are never guaranteed, but night diving often gives divers a closer look at reef behavior that is easy to miss in daylight.
Who Can Join a Night Dive?
Guided night dives are for certified divers. Divers should be comfortable with basic buoyancy, equalization, mask clearing, and following a guide underwater.
If you have not been diving recently, we may recommend a PADI ReActivate refresher or a daytime shore dive before scheduling a night dive. Safety, comfort, and ocean conditions always come first.
