How to Time a Cozumel Shore Dive Around Your All-Aboard Time

The all-aboard time is the thing every cruise passenger keeps half an eye on, and it's the main reason people talk themselves out of diving during a port stop. It doesn't have to be that stressful. Here's how to think through the timing.
Start with the numbers you already have
Before you book anything, write down your ship's arrival time, your all-aboard time, and how early you personally want to be back at the pier. Most people want at least an hour of cushion before all-aboard, more if it's your first time in port.
Work backward from all-aboard
Once you know when you want to be back, work backward: how long to get from us to the pier, how long the dive itself takes, and how long to get from the pier to us. Add those together and you'll know the latest realistic start time for your dive.
A guided shore dive or Discover Scuba session, including gear setup, the dive itself, and a short debrief, generally takes a few hours from start to finish. Because it's shore-based, there's no boat travel time to account for, which makes the math simpler than planning around a boat dive.
Build in a real buffer
Traffic, taxi wait times, and lines to get back on the ship are all things you can't fully control. A buffer isn't overcautious, it's just realistic. If your all-aboard time is 4:00 PM, planning to be back at the pier by 3:00 or 3:30 gives you room to absorb the unexpected.
