Shore Snorkeling in Cozumel for Cruise Ship Passengers

You've got a few hours in port and you want to see the reef. You also don't want to spend half your day on a boat or worry about getting back to the ship.

Guided shore snorkeling is built for exactly that. Here's how it works, what it costs and how to fit it into your day.

The quick version

  • Price: $25 USD per person
  • Length: about 2 hours
  • Start times: 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, subject to availability and ocean conditions
  • Typical depth: about 10 to 20 feet
  • Minimum age: 5
  • Included: snorkeling equipment and a guided shore snorkel
  • Certification: none needed
  • Meeting point: our shop at Local #1, Exterior Palmar Condominios, Carretera Costera Sur Km 3.8

How it works

You meet your guide at the shop and get your gear. The guide helps with equipment, shares a few basic tips and leads you from the beach into the water. Then you snorkel the reef with your guide.

There's no boat and no long swim to reach the reef. If conditions allow, you walk in and walk out.

Plan around your all-aboard time

Work backward from the ship. Start with your all-aboard time. Subtract the cushion you want, then the ride back, then the roughly two hours in the water. What's left is the latest start time that works.

Here's a made-up example. Say you want to be back at the ship by 3:45 PM and the ride takes about 30 minutes. A 2:00 PM start is too late. A 12:00 PM start finishes around 2:00 PM and leaves you plenty of room.

Your real numbers will depend on your ship and pier. Tell us your ship name and all-aboard time and we'll help you pick a start time. We ask cruise guests to contact us before booking for this reason.

Getting to us

Which pier your ship uses changes the ride. Port pickup isn't listed on our booking page, so ask us the best way to get here from your pier when you reach out.

What to bring

  • Swimwear and a towel
  • Sun protection, like a rash guard, hat and sunglasses
  • Reef-safe sunscreen

Who it's good for

First-time snorkelers, families with kids 5 and up, couples and anyone who isn't a certified diver. You should be comfortable in the water and able to take part in a shore-entry ocean activity.

Let's be honest about what we can promise

Ocean conditions come first. Start times depend on availability and conditions, and wildlife shows up when it wants to. We can promise a guide and a healthy shallow reef. We can't promise a specific animal.

A few things aren't on our booking page, so ask before you book: group size, and what happens if the weather turns.

Other options
